Tennessee Wildfires
I am sitting here reading stories from the survivors of the Tennessee wildfires, people are still holding out hope that their missing loved ones will be found, seeing pictures and reading the news of the ones who perished, three young men who were in Gatlinburg, celebrating the birthdays of the 22 year old twins, their 23 year old brother and their parents, they became separated trying to escape, the parents are now deceased and the three brothers were all send to Vanderbilt burn unit, Michael Reed and his son Nick are holding onto hope that their wife/mother and daughters/sisters will be found alive. I am still in awe of how fast these fires spread and how quickly they engulfed everything around them and how quickly people became trapped with no way out, roads blocked by downed power lines and trees. The fickleness of the flames as they burned down one home and didn't even scorch the one next door, burning down the mountainside toward a business and then stopping just before it caught on fire. This is something entirely new here, we have had wildfires before, but nothing on this scale. Gatlinburg will rebuild, people will find new homes, it will take a while to happen but it will happen. In the meantime y'all please continue to pray for all these people, that they can find peace once again, that their hearts mend, and that they can feel us wishing, hoping, and sharing in their grief.
